Warehouse Technician

The Medical Equipment Repair Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing pneumatic compression devices and related accessories. Working in a warehouse or depot environment, the technician ensures that all equipment is sanitized, calibrated, repaired, and compliant with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations before being shipped to patients or facilities.This role, reporting to the team’s Managers, will require an exceptional level of detail, customer service acumen and an emphasis on process execution and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctions in pneumatic pumps and compression sleeves, repairing or replacing defective components such as motors, valves, or electronic boards.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, sterilization, and testing of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Quality Control: Inspect new and returned medical equipment, verifying that they meet safety and operational standards.
- Documentation: Maintain precise, detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections, often using computerized inventory systems. Accurately record all issues and resolutions within the designated CRM system, adhering to privacy and compliance standards.
- Inventory Management: Manage replacement parts inventory, including receiving, storing, and ordering necessary supplies.
- Patient Interaction: Respond to patient questions, concerns, and complaints through various channels such as phone, email, chat, or social media, maintaining a high level of empathy and professionalism.
- Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve patient issues, guiding them through appropriate solutions and ensuring their understanding.
- Product/Service Expertise: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the company's products and services to provide accurate information.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant healthcare regulations, safety standards, and internal policies. Adhere to all relevant regulations and agency policies regarding data management, including but not limited to: CMS and OFCCP guidelines related to our Quality Management System, documentation and process creation and training.
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with electromechanical systems, particularly pneumatic systems (pumps, valves, airflow).
Diagnostic Abilities: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and electrical test instruments (e.g., multimeters).
Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency is necessary, and familiarity with specific healthcare software or systems may be required depending on the role. Ability to read and interpret manufacturer manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
Dexterity: Good hand-eye coordination for delicate repairs and assembling small parts.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills: To interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Ability to work independently and as a team member, take direction and participate in Continuous Education as required for the role.
Excellent organizational and time management skills: To manage a high volume of tasks and ensure timely processing of information.
Attention to detail: To ensure accuracy in records and reporting information. Ability to multitask and prioritize duties to support delivery timelines.
Problem-solving skills: To address any issues or challenges that may arise during the work process.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or a similar technical field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in repairing medical devices (Durable Medical Equipment) or similar electromechanical equipment is highly desirable.
Job Requirements & Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds, must be able to lift 40 pounds from the floor and lift to waist level.
- Must be able to kneel, stoop, climb stairs and reach with hands and arms.
- Reliable work transportation.
- Candidates must pass an extensive background check.
